Rick Hoberg

If you are a fan of comics, then Rick Hoberg probably had an influence on you while you were growing up. He got his start in the business in the 1970s working on Tarzan comic books and the Star Wars newspaper strip with Russ Manning. Over the years he has had a hand in Kull the Destroyer, Savage Sword of Conan, and Marvel’s Star Wars comics. For DC he worked on such titles as Batman, Green Lantern, and Justice League of America

We are thrilled to be able to offer you the chance to bid on a Rick Hoberg page of ORIGINAL ART from his long run of Green Arrow from the 1990s. The 11x17” page comes on DC Comics’ official Bristol board, which bears a stamp on the back dating this art from 1992. It is page #6 from the 65th issue. Hoberg penciled the series. This page is beautifully inked by John Nyberg with lettering by Steve Haynie, and even bears old school zipatone for the dot pattern shading. Several of the panels have some red inked lines, which were likely an indication those areas would receive special treatment from the colorist. It was recently signed in the lower right corner by Hoberg with 2016 as the date when he donated this from his personal archives to our auctions.
