Bill Morrison

Featuring Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo, this is a PRINT of a beautiful parody of Frank Frazetta's well known Buck Rogers cover from Famous Funnies drawn by NCS President Bill Morrison who even hand drew all the lettering on this. Bill created the original art at twice the size it would have been printed at as a comic book, just the way Frazetta would have done it. An experienced editor with Matt Groening's Bongo Comics company, Bill was the editor of the Usagi Yojimbo tribute book project in which this art appeared that CAPS and Dark Horse Comics released in July, 2014 titled The Sakai Project: Artists Celebrate Thirty Years of Usagi Yojimbo. A set of limited edition prints measuring 13x19” was produced from just a few images from the book. This is #24/100 donated from Bill Morrison’s private collection. Hand signed and numbered.

Bill Morrison’s career started as an illustrator for movie posters back in the 1980s and 1990s with such classics as the horror film House, and believe it or not, many for Disney movies such as re-releases of Peter Pan, Cinderella, Bambi, & The Jungle Book, and the first run posters for Oliver & Company, Mickey Mouse in Prince and the Pauper, and The Little Mermaid (yes, the one of urban legend fame). For the past 25 years, Bill has been working with Matt Groening at Bongo Comics art directing many comic books and hard cover Simpsons books. Somewhere in all of that, Bill created his own comics Roswell: Little Green Man and the Dark Horse Comics mini-series Dead Vengeance.
