Sergio Aragonès is not only one of the world’s greatest cartoonists beloved by fans around the globe, he also happens to be one of the favorites among his peers in the cartooning industry. In 1963, Sergio joined the “Usual Gang of Idiots” (the affectionate name given to contributors) at MAD Magazine for whom he continues to regularly draw cartoons. In 1982, Sergio’s second well-loved creation was born, the comic book Groo the Wanderer with writer Mark Evanier. Sergio has drawn countless other comics for many publishers, including his own take on the characters of DC, Marvel, and even Star Wars. To show how much his colleagues love him, the NCS recently announced, in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, the creation of The NCS Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art.
This is a wonderful 8.5x11” original sketch Sergio created for our auctions of some of his cast from Groo the Wanderer. It is drawn in ink on paper with some well placed accent colors. Signed.
