Bill Morrison

In 2015, the National Cartoonists Society created a Star Wars themed poster that was sold at their booth at the San Diego Comic Con. Many cartoonists from the NCS created their own take of George Lucas’ famous characters, often including their own characters that they are known for. We are happy to be offering several of the original drawings by our members from that print in our eBay auctions.

This great piece of Darth “Homer” Vader strangling Bart Simpson by using the Force comes to us directly from NCS President Bill Morrison. Bill’s humor and gorgeous line work are on full display on this piece drawn in ink on 9x12” Bristol board. It is signed by the artist.

Bill Morrison’s career started as an illustrator for movie posters back in the 1980s and 1990s with such classics as the horror film House, and believe it or not, many for Disney movies such as re-releases of Peter Pan, Cinderella, Bambi, & The Jungle Book, and the first run posters for Oliver & Company, and The Little Mermaid (yes, even the one of urban legend fame with the underwater castle spires). For the past 25 years, Bill has been working with Matt Groening at Bongo Comics art directing many comic books and hard cover Simpsons books. Somewhere in all of that, Bill created his own comics Roswell: Little Green Man and the Dark Horse Comics mini-series Dead Vengeance.

Be sure to visit our other auctions to see more Star Wars interpretations by other famous cartoonists!
